Along the old trade routes that connected Samarkand to Sindh, artisans stitched their cosmologies into cloth — repeating the forms of cypress trees, lotus buds, and celestial plumes until fabric became a kind of prayer. This jacket carries that same devotion forward, its deep amethyst velvet ground echoing the indigo-dyed robes of Rajputana courts, where embellishment was never decoration but declaration.

Each panel is densely worked in warm saffron-gold chain stitch — a technique known locally as zanjeer — rendered by hand in Jaipur's old city ateliers. The motifs are unmistakably Central Asian in their architecture: towering fan-palms with flame-tipped centres rise across the back and shoulders, their fronds radiating outward in symmetrical bursts. Along the hem, a processional border of oval seedpods and budded finials creates a grounding rhythm — a motif common to Uzbek suzani but reinterpreted here through a Rajasthani hand. The collar is edged in the same gold chain stitch, completing the garment as a total composition.
