In the old caravan cities where Rajasthan's trade routes once met the silk roads of Central Asia, women embroidered suzanis by lamplight — vast medallions of bloom and vine meant to bless a home, a marriage, a life. The Chambelí carries that same devotional geometry onto the back of a jacket, its central rosette radiating outward like a garden seen from above.
Worked entirely by hand on a slubby dusty-blue cotton base, the design unfolds in concentric rings — a coral-orange marigold with a milk-white heart sits at the center, ringed by plump maroon pomegranate pods, each marked with a single ivory seed-stitch. Black chain-stitch vines branch outward in loose, calligraphic sprays, echoed by smaller cross-stitch blossoms scattered across the shoulders and sleeves. A thin coral piping traces the collar and hem, closing the composition the way a suzani's border closes a field.
