In the textile villages outside Jaipur, artisans have long looked to the wild — to the spreading branches of dry-season trees, to the fan-shaped crowns of desert flora, to the small birds that dart between them — for the language of their craft. This jacket is that language made wearable: a meditation on the natural world rendered in slow, deliberate stitch on sage-toned herringbone cotton.

The back panel tells the fullest story. Four deep burgundy fan-flowers — their petals gathered and dense like dried poppies — rise from branching tan stems that fork and feather across the fabric. Between them, dark olive vine-work travels in zigzag tendrils, punctuated by arrow-shaped leaves in forest green and wine. Small burgundy berries anchor the hem and collar borders, framing the composition in the manner of traditional suzani border work from Central Asian kilim traditions. The embroidery is raised and richly textured — worked in chain stitch and satin stitch — giving each motif a sculptural presence against the cool herringbone ground.

Cut in a relaxed, slightly oversized silhouette, this jacket wears as easily over a linen shirt as it does over a knit.
