The Garden of Symmetry — Suzani-Inspired Hand-Embroidered Cotton Jacket — Stone Grey

Across the trade routes connecting Rajasthan to Central Asia, textile makers shared a common devotion — the belief that cloth could hold a garden. This jacket is born of that tradition. Worked on a softly woven stone grey cotton, its back panel tells the story of a mirrored garden in full bloom, a composition so precise in its symmetry it reads as a mandala of botanical life. Every stitch was placed by hand in a Jaipur atelier, where artisans carry forward embroidery languages passed through generations.

The embroidery unfolds as a grand floral tree — two large pomegranate-like blooms in deep burgundy and purple anchor the composition at its heart, their petals fanned outward in layered relief. Above them, crown-like florals burst in orange, crimson, and violet, while curling vines in sky blue and chartreuse yellow spiral through the background like calligraphy. Dark forest green branches bear feathered leaf sprays in a tight chain stitch, grounding the composition in naturalistic rhythm. The hem and collar are finished with a repeating border of red berries, purple buds, and multicolour running stitch — a detail as considered as the centrepiece itself. The sleeves carry trailing vine motifs that continue the garden onto the arms.

This jacket wears like a garment and reads like an heirloom. Its relaxed, slightly oversized silhouette makes it as comfortable over a linen shirt as it is over a summer dress. The grey base is deliberately quiet — a neutral stage that lets the embroidery speak at full volume without competing with what you wear beneath.
