That is the audacious starting point of The Gulbadan Forest — a deep, richly saturated forest-green velvet base carrying hand Suzani embroidery where the botanical stems and vines are worked in ice-blue and sage-green thread, nearly disappearing into the velvet until the light catches them and they glow.
Against this green-on-green ground, the focal motifs emerge with extraordinary force: large fan-flower forms in burnt orange-red and soft peach, their scalloped petal edges worked in tight chain stitch. Slate-blue tulip forms — a classic Suzani motif from Central Asian textile tradition — punctuate the composition with cool, architectural weight. Small accent flowers in peach, cobalt, and ice-blue scatter across the background, each one hand-placed.
The structured front-panel framing border in ice-blue chain stitch gives the jacket its composed, formal quality — this is Suzani embroidery at its most considered, with a clear sense of composition rather than all-over scatter. The scalloped hem border and the embroidered mandarin collar complete a jacket of genuine museum quality.
