In the workshops of Jaipur, where Suzani traditions traveled silk routes from Samarkand to settle into Rajasthani hands, this jacket began as a single sketch of a garden remembered rather than seen. The artisans who embroidered it work from memory — mothers' motifs passed down, reinterpreted stitch by stitch on cloth washed to the color of dusk.
Across a base of deep indigo velvet, sprays of coral-orange fan blossoms open like desert marigolds, their petals rendered in dense satin stitch. Sage-green fern fronds climb in chain stitch beside pale blue stem-lines, while smaller four-petaled flowers in dusty rose and vermillion scatter like seeds along the hem and collar. The reverse tells the fuller story — two mirrored garden columns rising from hem to shoulder, a symmetry rooted in old Suzani textile grammar.
This is a jacket meant to be worn open, layered over linen or knit, letting the embroidery breathe as movement catches the velvet's low sheen. Each piece carries the small irregularities of hand-work — no two gardens embroidered exactly alike.
