In the walled courtyards of old Jaipur, where velvet was once reserved for royal shawls and winter dowries, this jacket takes its cue from the Suzani tradition — a craft carried across trade routes from Central Asia and reimagined by Rajasthani hands. The rust-brown ground evokes sun-baked terracotta, the earth of the Thar after monsoon.
Scattered across the back and sleeves, oversized daisy motifs bloom in ivory white with deep cobalt-blue centers, alongside smaller cobalt florets rimmed in white — a deliberate rhythm of large and small blossoms, hand-chained and satin-stitched by artisan embroiderers. The collar carries a wave of white chain-stitch trim, framing the neckline like the border of an antique suzani textile.
Underneath the ornamentation lies a relaxed, boxy silhouette — easy to layer, generous through the shoulder, built for movement rather than restraint. This is a jacket meant to be worn as a statement piece, each floral placement slightly imperfect, slightly human, exactly as hand embroidery should be.
