In the folk tales of the Silk Road, the hare was a trickster and a guardian of the moon — swift, silent, watchful. This jacket carries that spirit forward, stitched by hand into a deep forest-green velvet that holds its shadows like a dense woodland at dusk.
Two ivory hares, outlined in fine chainwork and marked with maroon fern-like tails, leap across the body of the jacket — a motif drawn from the folk embroidery traditions of Central Asia, where animals were rarely decorative alone but carried protective meaning. Around them unfurls a garden of hand-worked florals: mustard-gold blossoms, coral-red star flowers, and trailing vines rendered in warm ochre thread, all grounded by a deep maroon scalloped border that runs along the placket like an old caravan trim. The collar and cuffs are finished in the same gold vine work, framing the face and wrists in quiet ornamentation.
Cut in a relaxed, unstructured silhouette and lined in a soft striped cotton, this is a jacket meant to be lived in — thrown over silk for evening, or layered over denim on an ordinary Tuesday that deserves a little more magic.
