Somewhere between the embroidered tents of Central Asia and the hand-stitched havelis of Rajasthan, a visual language was born — one of climbing vines, crescent moons, and sunbursts that mapped the cosmos onto cloth. This jacket carries that cartography. Woven from a fine indigo-and-ivory houndstooth cotton, its surface becomes the canvas for a suzani-inspired composition that feels ancient and utterly alive.

The back panel tells the story most boldly: a symmetrical tree-of-life rises from a pale blue sunburst medallion ringed in deep crimson and forest green, its branches unfurling into paired crescent moon motifs rendered in powdery sky blue with teal interior detailing. Around them, crimson vines spiral into serrated leaf forms — each one chain-stitched with the particular tension that only a practiced hand achieves. A wave-border in teal and sky blue anchors the hem, echoing the kilim borders of Uzbek suzanis. Every motif is outlined in dark ruby, giving the embroidery its graphic, almost woodblock-printed clarity against the quiet geometry of the base weave.

Because the houndstooth base reads as a neutral — neither fully dark nor fully light — this jacket moves between worlds with ease. Wear it over a white kurta or a simple linen shirt; the embroidery does the talking. The relaxed, boxy silhouette with a denim-trimmed collar nods to contemporary workwear while the craft roots it firmly in something far older and more considered. There are very few of these. That is entirely the point.
