In the walled gardens of old Central Asia, the pomegranate was carved into gates and stitched onto robes as a wish for abundance. This kimono carries that same lineage forward — a fuchsia pink velvet canvas transformed by hand into a procession of blossoms and seed-heavy fruit, worked entirely in mustard-olive thread.
The embroidery unfolds in two registers: along the front placket, rows of plump pomegranate motifs sit shoulder to shoulder, their crowns fanned like tiny coronets. Across the chest and hem, oversized palmette flowers open in radiating pleats of chain stitch, each anchored by a slender stem and leaf, rendered in the same warm gold-green that recalls aged brass against hot pink velvet. Inside, a candy-striped cotton lining in crimson and white peeks out at the collar — a quiet, unexpected finish.
Cut long and relaxed, with a Nehru-style stand collar and dropped shoulders, this kimono is made to be thrown over kurtas, slip dresses, or worn open as a statement coat. No two embroidered panels are identical — a mark of the artisan's hand, not a machine's repetition.
