In the walled workshops of Jaipur, where quilting needles move like slow rivers across cotton, this tote began as a dream of forgotten jungles — the kind painted on the walls of old havelis, where tigers and toucans lived side by side with palm groves that never wilted.
Across its ivory cotton face, a full menagerie unfolds in hand-blocked and hand-embroidered detail: dappled cheetahs mid-stride, a zebra caught mid-step, a toucan perched low among teal palm fronds, and long-legged storks wading through painted grass. The palette is warm and earthen — teal greens, brick reds, mustard yellows, and deep charcoal linework — all quilted in fine running stitches that give the fabric its soft, hand-worked texture. Striped mustard-and-ivory piping traces the handles and edges, a nod to the striped dhurries of Rajasthani looms.
Sturdy double handles and a boxy, structured silhouette make this tote as functional as it is storied — roomy enough for a day's errands, a beach afternoon, or a market wander, yet special enough to feel like carrying a small piece of folk art with you.
