In the villages surrounding Jaipur, where Suzani traditions travelled along old Silk Road trade routes and settled into Rajasthani hands, this jacket was born stitch by stitch on a table by the window. The embroiderer worked from memory — the wild cosmos flowers that grow along the field edges after monsoon, their petals catching light in navy and mustard.
Worked entirely in hand embroidery across a soft pistachio-green cotton base, the motif repeats in tall branching stems of rust-red thread, each one sprouting sprays of olive-green ferns and clusters of five-petaled blossoms — navy and marigold-yellow at the center, scattered white buds and cornflower-blue accents filling the spaces between. Twin vertical borders of fine rust chain-stitch run the length of the sleeves and hem, framing the wildness with a quiet geometry, the way old Suzani hangings would edge a field of flowers with disciplined lines.
The result is a jacket that carries weight without heaviness — cotton light enough for transitional weather, embroidery dense enough to read as artwork. Worn open over a plain kurta or buttoned to the collar, it holds its own as the single statement in a room.
