In the walled gardens of old Samarkand, pomegranates were carved into doorways as symbols of abundance — a motif that traveled westward along trade routes until it found new life in the needlework of Rajasthani artisans. The Samarkand Bloom carries that lineage forward, each split pomegranate stitched by hand as though caught mid-ripen.
Worked on a sky-blue textured cotton base, dense black chain-stitch vines coil into medallion wreaths, framing bursts of crimson pomegranates with pale ivory slits at their centers. Between them bloom coral and rust rosettes, their petals rendered in layered satin stitch with a soft white heart. A mandarin collar continues the motif in miniature, edged in a fine rust-orange outline that also traces the front placket.
This is embroidery meant to be worn, not framed — a relaxed, boxy silhouette that layers easily over knits or worn open as a statement coat. No two jackets embroider identically; the hand of the artisan remains visible in every knot and curve.
