In the villages surrounding Jaipur, where Suzani techniques traveled centuries ago along trade routes from Central Asia, embroiderers still work chain stitch by hand, building flowers one loop at a time. This jacket began as a length of raw cotton dyed the blue of an early monsoon sky — then it became a garden.
Across the back, mirrored stems of forest-green rise like wild fennel, some ending in feathery navy-blue florets, others blooming into wide, pale pink dandelion heads with radiating indigo spokes. Scattered between them are tiny five-petaled blossoms in rust orange, olive, violet, and blush — a meadow caught mid-bloom. The collar carries its own quiet detail: a chain-stitched vine border finished with a rust-and-cream rickrack trim, a nod to the finishing techniques of traditional Rajasthani odhnis.
Cut in a relaxed, boxy silhouette, this jacket wears like a wearable textile artifact — equal parts folk tapestry and everyday layer. No two flowers are stitched identically, because no two hands stitch the same way twice.
